This page explains who owns and funds Sonderbriefing, how we keep our journalism independent, and what that means for you as a reader. If you have any questions about our ownership or funding, you can reach us at any time via our contact page.
Who owns Sonderbriefing?
Sonderbriefing is owned and operated by Nordklar Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar with company number C 92009 and listed on the Malta Business Registry. The registered office is Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000. The main phone number is +356 2138 9009.
Nordklar Media Ltd. was established in 2024 specifically to launch and run Sonderbriefing. The company has no parent organisation, no political party affiliation, and no external shareholders who control editorial output. All operational and editorial decisions are made by the Sonderbriefing team in Sweden and Germany, not by any remote corporate board.
How is Sonderbriefing funded?
Sonderbriefing is funded through a mix of display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, and content licensing. We do not accept funding from political parties, governments, or advocacy groups that would compromise our independence.
Every piece of sponsored or commercial material is clearly labelled so you can always tell the difference between editorial content and paid promotion. Affiliate links are disclosed in accordance with our advertising and affiliate disclosure policy. No commercial relationship ever determines what we cover or how we cover it.
How this works in practice
Imagine a Swedish bank launches a new savings account. Our Wirtschaftreporter, Melanie Schumacher, writes an article comparing that account with others on the market. The article may contain affiliate links to the bank’s sign-up page. If a reader clicks that link and opens an account, Sonderbriefing may earn a small commission. That commission never influences whether the article is written, what it says, or which products are included. The article is fact-checked by Laura Arnold and approved by Chefredaktör Tim Zimmermann before publication. The affiliate link is clearly labelled. The reader knows exactly what is editorial and what is commercial.
Who is accountable for editorial independence?
Chefredaktör Tim Zimmermann is ultimately responsible for all editorial standards, publication decisions, and corrections at Sonderbriefing. He reports to no commercial or political interest outside the newsroom. You can read more about Tim and the full team on our team page.
Our editorial policy and fact-checking policy are published in full. Every article is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor, and fact-checked before publication. AI-assisted tools may support research or drafting, but no content is published without human editorial approval. Our AI and automation policy explains exactly how those tools are used.
How to advertise or partner with us
If you are interested in advertising, sponsorship, or commercial partnerships, please contact our partnerships team at advertising@sonderbriefing.de. All commercial enquiries are handled separately from the newsroom. Editorial staff are never involved in commercial negotiations, and commercial partners never have advance access to editorial content.
For general enquiries, you can reach us at info@sonderbriefing.de. For press or media enquiries, use press@sonderbriefing.de. Our full contact details, including postal address and phone numbers, are on our contact page.
In short
Sonderbriefing is owned by Nordklar Media Ltd., a Gibraltar-registered company, and funded through transparent commercial models that never dictate our journalism. Editorial independence is guaranteed by Chefredaktör Tim Zimmermann and a clear separation between newsroom and business operations. You can trust that what you read is driven by facts, not by who pays us.
